Online Counselling for Anxiety and Stress
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is a term that’s used to describe the feelings of fear that we experience when we are thinking about something bad happening in the future. Anxiety is often experienced as unpleasant bodily sensations (e.g., your heart racing, breathing more rapidly, tightness in the chest, stomach and muscles). Anxiety can make concentration difficult and impact our ability to relax and sleep well. Anxiety can also be associated with a tendency to worry excessively about negative things that might happen in the future.
It doesn’t matter if we are worried about something serious happening such as losing a job or something less serious such as being late for an appointment. Each of these types of situations can lead to feelings of anxiety and stress which can build up over days, weeks and months to the point where we are not coping as well as we would like to be.
Anxiety is a common mental health problem.
Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia. On average, one in four people will experience anxiety at some stage in their life, so you are certainly not alone.
You don’t have to live with anxiety.
As you may already know, there are different types of anxiety “disorders” which we can experience when anxiety has reached the point where it is interfering significantly with our daily lives.
It doesn’t matter whether your anxiety has reached the status of a “disorder” for you to seek online counselling for anxiety. You only need to decide if it is bothering you enough to want things to be different.
